Are gel nails better for your natural nails than acrylics?

I love doing my nails with acrylics. I've gotten really good at it, and think it's a lot of fun.

The only thing that I don't like about the acrylics is how weak and thin they make my natural nails.

So, are gel nails any better for you than the acrylics? Are there any other kinds of synthetic nails I haven't thought of that are better? Are gel nails better for your natural nails than acrylics?
I've had both and find the uv-gel nails are WAYYYY better. they're much more natural and have a terrific natural-looking shine.

I'll never go back to acrylic. Are gel nails better for your natural nails than acrylics?
Hi there

Acrylic (L%26amp;P) and Gel are essentially the same. They are both acrylic composition, it's just the way in which they are applied that is different. Acrylic L%26amp;P as you know, is applied and hardens by itself. Gel is applied in the same way, but doesn't harden upon application, you need a UV lamp to 'cure' the acrylic and make it set.

So really, in answer to your question, no, gel is no better (or worse) for your nails than acrylic L%26amp;P.

The main reason for weak and thin nails once your acrylic has come off is a poor application process. Over filing is the most common way of ruining and thinning nails prior to an acrylic application. There is no need for this as all that is needed if you are using a good acrylic system, is a gentle buff on the nails to remove the shine. Your nails will feel weak once your acrylic has been removed because they are obviously softer than hard acrylic.

One way to nourish your nails is to use a good nail oil twice daily, regardless of whether you have acrylics on or not, or take sea kelp which is available from good health shops or chemists.
yeah they are wayy better for your natural nails:)
nup, gels are no better unfortunately :(
