They are VERY bad for your nails! They block off the air from them even more than nail polish does, so they become brittle and thin, and when you take them off the glue pulls some of the natural nails off with it (in microscopic pieces) but it is enough to damage your nails after a few times. Also they only last for a few days and aren't worth it really they aren't. Just buy clear nail polish with strengtheners in it and coat your nails every day in it to let your nails grow strong, they will end up becoming really pretty!
Oh, and DO NOT EVER get acrylics, your nails will suck for like 6 months afterwards, you wonder why so many girls are getting their nails done all the time? Because their nails look like crap underneath the fake ones and no one wants to suffer the embarassment of dealing with crappy nails for that long of a time.
