Can I apply acrylic to my natural nails??

Yes you can apply it to your natural nails and it will damage it by making it weaker when you take it off. When you take it off, just put on nail hardener ($1) to make it stronger or drink milk. Good Luck and bye.Can I apply acrylic to my natural nails??
I've been doing hair/nails for a few years now and yes, you can apply acrylic on your nails. You just have to buff your natural nail to get rid of the oil first and to also make it a little rough so the acrylic can stick on there. Acrylic is really messy if you have no idea what you're doing, though. Press on nails are simply and an easy solution or going to the salon. Can I apply acrylic to my natural nails??
Yes it will damage your natural nails, because just like with a tip when it grows out, they have to file the acrylic down and fill it in, so you are going to end up with thinner nails, and if you ever take them off a deep line in them, just like when you take fake nails off (acrylic with a tip)
I am fourteen, I went to the mall with my cousin and we decided we wanted to get our nails done. I completely regret doing it, but everyone is different. It hurts so bad to snag them bad boys on something and end up ripping them off.. so be careful :o) Also, It hurts to rip them off in general, and mine were on for about a month and a half.. because I didn't want to get them filled. I used this stuff sort of like nail polish, but it takes of Acrylics. Its safer for your natural nails and doesn't ruin them all that much. If you are going to get acrylics, I would definitely go to a salon and not do them yourself.. just to be safe :))

The stuff I use to take off my nails is called: Kiss- All or One- Artificial Nail Remover. Its about six dollars.

Here is what it looks like : http://images.buzzillions.com/images_pro鈥?/a>

Good Luck!
yes, they have kits at walmart or sallys that you can get. but i would get it done, they last longer and look alot better. you can try it though...i did to save a little money and will never do it myself again.
yes just go to your nearest nail salon and thats what they do...or you could get a pack from walmart and do it yourself =]

hope this helps
yes, but you should get them done professionally at a nail salon.
Sure can Ive had acrlyic nails for 5 years now.....keeps me from biting my real ones. Works wonders.

Help me decide. Medium to long length acrylic nails, or short to medium natural nails?

medium, it is easier to maneuver and people aren't afraid of you. unless you are going to be a witch for halloween ;)Help me decide. Medium to long length acrylic nails, or short to medium natural nails?
short to medium natural. the acrylic.... ugh... just don't get acrylic. =]Help me decide. Medium to long length acrylic nails, or short to medium natural nails?
short to medium natural nails. they look better...and cost less. =)
Medium natural nails :D
take care of your natural nails. if you start using acrylics, that will cause long-term and nasty damage to your real nails.
Short to medium... it's easier to maintenance and the natural look is always best.
natural nails rule, no matter what the length, just keep them well shaped.

but if you want the fake nails for a special occasion then go for the medium length nails, coz too long just looks tacky and that's not good (unless you're going to a fancy dress party as a hooker or something).
Short to medium natural nails. Acrylic nails damage your nails and requires a fill-in like every two weeks... plus a natural manicure is cheaper!
Short to medium naturals: easier and less expensive to keep up, more stylish now, and less chance of fungal infections than with fake nails.
short to medium natural, clean and well manicured, maybe french manicure.
i think the longer the prettier, but they're harder to take care of and harder to live with
medium natual nails. who cares if it takes alot more work? natural is so much hotter!!!!
make them short to medium, but just remember to give it a rest once in awhile because u can get a fungus from not letting ur nails breathe.
Natural has been the trend for the last year or so I say medium length. Because all of the hub bub with dirty nail shops and girls getting nail infections.

Really dark pink nails for Guy- Is this natural or problem?

i think its natural especially youre not the only one who has it, your family also does, maybe its on the genes.Really dark pink nails for Guy- Is this natural or problem?
You're gonna need lots of nail polish remover.
  • blackheads
  • I just took off my artificial nails, and my natural nails hurt. what can I do to help them???

    I had the same problem....

They're hurting because they were suffocating. Believe it or not - nails need to breathe too.

Give them a lot of tlc.. Drink a glass of milk a day and buy a good nail hardener with added moistriser.

They will eventually gain strength.I just took off my artificial nails, and my natural nails hurt. what can I do to help them???
if you still have left over acrylic...soak it in strong nail remover for a little bit..after that just gently scrub wid warm more hot water %26amp;%26amp;` a good quality soap..dont put nail polish hardener on it..it does nothing to solve your problem..dont work with your hands to much..allow them to relax..moisturize them with babyy oil every now %26amp;%26amp;` then to maintain smootheness...and lotion too...%26amp;%26amp;` like others said drink milk..they help the bones in yur nail stay strongI just took off my artificial nails, and my natural nails hurt. what can I do to help them???
Ok, this might sound gross. But I promise you that it will work. I use garlic to make them hard. Just split a garlic clove and rub it on your nail. Then put a clear coat over them so it could set in!! =)
Soak them in lukewarm water for about 5-10 min and they should heal on their own in about a couple more hours only.
    lotion will soothe them
File off any crap that is still left on your nails. Find one of those buffers that has like 3 surfaces. One is for filing. The other is for smoothing and the last is for buffing (high shine). You may also want to try nail strengthener so they don't grow back and just break.

I hate getting fake nails for just that reason.

    Good luck.
first soke them in nail polish remover (i no it sounds wierd)

then put them under cold water and then put on lotion
Rub them every evening before going to bed with Vitamin E oil.
I know that feeling, it's brutal.

They probably filed them down to get the glue to adhere to the otherwise smooth surface and now your nailbed is thin and needing tlc.

You need to build the nails strength again and nurse them back to health.

Try Avon's Nail Expert's strong results length %26amp; strength complex. It's not a polish, it's a treatment. You will LOVE me forever for having recommended it after a week of using this stuff. It is the only product on earth that got my nails (typically very thin and prone to peeling) to grow long and strong. It will do the trick.

    Best of luck!
i'm not sure what to do for the pain, it should go away after a few days, but i DO know that when you take off fake nails, it leaves weird ridges on your nail. there is this really cool buffer that completely smooths the nail down, and gives it a shine that lasts up to 2 months! it's from this company called Dead Sea Spa Care.
bathe them in water for about 10-15 mins and then dry them and apply 1/2 coats of strenghening nail polish. if they are still causing discomfort then bathe them again until they heal. when your nails grow back they will be really weak so make sure you have lots of vitamins and use nail strenghtener to make them have more strength

    hope this helps

    Make natural nails look better?

I've been looking into acryllics but it seems like they're not really a longer-term solution and are usually regretted later. So since my own nails aren't too bad I'm thinking of just trying to improve my natural nails and then going for a french tip manicure.

The only problem is that lately the skin around my nails has been looking kind of rough. I've been getting more hang nails than before, and generally my cuticle area just doesn't look that nice anymore. What can I do??

I haven't started any kind of manual labour or anything that could explain why they are looking like this, and I still use the same kind of moisturizer on my hands that I've always used (curel). Also, I moisturize on a regular basis.

Can anyone recommend a manicure cream or techniques that can be done to improve cuticles, hangnails etc?? When I go for a manicure will they help to fix this for me?Make natural nails look better?
There are a few things you can do to help with this problem.

First, get some cuticle remover. One that I like is called 'Cuticle Eliminator,' and can be seen here:

    http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/sterilis鈥?/a>

Apply this around the base of each nail plate and ensuring even coverage and avoiding skin contact (don't use your fingertips to spread it, use the spout on the bottle instead).

Let that sit for about one minute, then carefully remove the cuticle tissue from the nail plate using a good quality cuticle pusher made from metal. These work much better than orange sticks:

    http://www.folica.com/Mehaz_Cuticle_P_d4鈥?/a>

BTW,Mehaz manufactures some of the best nail implements available. But there are others available which will work just as well for home use and cost you less money at the same time.

After you are done, wash your hands thoroughly, then dry them.

You can do this once or twice a week. It will not only help to keep your cuticles in great shape and looking good, but it will help to prevent hangnails as well.

After you are done removing the skin, use sharp cuticle nippers to remove any skin around the nail folds which may be sticking out. Do this step carefully as well.

I have to clarify something before I go on any further.

The term 'cuticle' is often used incorrectly to refer to the skin that surrounds the base of the nail in a kind of semi-circular shape. This is called the nail fold. The same skin arounf the sides of your nails is called the lateral nail folds. At the base of the nail folds - underneath the nail fold and closest to your nail, is where the 'eponychium' is located. The purpose of the eponychium is to form a tight barrier between your nail folds and the nail plte, preventing moisture, bacteria, and other things from getting under your skin in that area. As your nail grows out, there is a sticky layer of tissue which forms on the underside of the eponychium. This sticky layer of tissue is literally dragged away from under the tight seal the eponychium forms, and remains on your nail plate, and hardens as it grows out. The dead skin that you see at the very base of your nail, and extending out a little bit onto the nail plate (how far out it extends depends on how often you remove it), is the 'cuticle.' When I said to remove the cuticle, this is the skin that I am talking about. Never cut, or otherwise remove the skin on the nail folds. Many people like to cut that skin off using this sharp v-shaped tool which is sold in many stores for this purpose. Don't do this. The skin will grow back both thicker, and tougher. Also, It is important that you do not break the seal formed by the eponychium by the use of any pushers, whether it is an orange stick, or a metal pusher, or whatever. By doing so, you are opening yourself up to possible infections, and cutting or removing the skin around the nail folds will break this barrier, as will pushing the cuticle too far back. Do this with care.

Last, but not least, use a cuticle oil. My personal favorite is called Solar Oil, by Creative Nail Design. You can get this in major drugstores for about $9 for a 1/2 oz. bottle. It not only workks great to keep your cuticle area looking %26amp; feeling good, and mositurzing the skin but smells great too! Kind of almondy smell to it.

Anyway, apply a couple drops to each nail and massage into the cuticle area, the skin around the nail, and the nail itself. This will really help to moisturize your natural nail, and keep them healthy. Use this at least twice a day. Its not possible to use this 'too' often, so do it two, three, or more times a day, and within a week or two, you'll notice a big improvement in your cuticle area, and your nails will be healthier as well.

Note: There are other cuticle oils available, and you can use them instead of CND Solar Oil is you want to. But, no matter what brand you choose, be sure that it is a high quality oil. Not all cuticle oils work well, but the higher quality ones tend to be much better, and result in the sking around the cuticle area being softer, and healthier, and will help to reduce - or eliminate hangnails altogether.

    hthMake natural nails look better?
For the most natural looking nail - get the manicure so they can take care of your cuticles and instead of nail polish, have them buff your nails. This gives them a super high shine. Kinda like you have a clear coat of polish but it won't chip off.
The manicurist will take care of this that's part of job
In the malls the people selling the dead sea stuff works great. I am not one to buy those things but they are great. I have really nice nails now. They shine naturally and they have an oil you apply once a day. It makes your cuticles soft and the hang nails go away.
Burt's bees has a very good cuticle cream designed specifically for what you've described. You should check that out.

Also, by pushing your cuticles back just a little bit once a day promotes nail growth and will probably help your hangnails. Make sure you're just pushing them back a little, and not picking at the skin around your fingers.

As far as the actual appearance of your nails, a manicure will help that, but definitely don't get any acrylics.

If you just want your nails to be smooth, shaped and shiney, there are nail files you can get for that at your local beauty store. One kind of rough, to do the shaping and smothing out of any ridges you may have on your nails. But not too coarse, otherwise it will leave your nails feeling paper thin. And one a lot softer with a bit of moiusterizer in it to make your nails so shiney they look like you've painted them with clear coat.

    Good luck!

    natural tipped Acrylic nails?

I want to get my nails done, but I do not want the french manicured look. I heard that you can ask for a natural tip which looks like your real nail, but is that what they are called?

How would you ask for that? lol

thanks ladies natural tipped Acrylic nails?
CRYSTAL NAILS natural tipped Acrylic nails?
Yes you can ask for a natural tip. It is actually called a Natural Tip. Almost every salon will have both white tips and natural tips. If they don't, you can get the white tips and then have the nails painted when they are done. You won't be able to tell they were white tips after they are painted.

I have changed my diet to all natural, vitamins and excersise. Why are my nails yellow and why am I weak/dizzy

I have started to walk for an hour everyday, my water intake is higher, and my diet is 100% better. So why are my nails turning yellow, my strength going down, I'm dizzy and tired all the time. Why is this happening?I have changed my diet to all natural, vitamins and excersise. Why are my nails yellow and why am I weak/dizzy
I suggest your diet may be due to recommendations by the wrong people. The media is loaded with misinformation and motivated by profit. Doctors are not trained in nutrition and have no clue what is good and bad for people.

I strongly suggest you seek out a certified nutritional therapist because they can test you for any deficiencies you may have and then recommend a diet and possibly supplements. The so called ';food experts'; you read in Yahoo and other sources are just ';hired guns'; of the food industry marketing teams and are giving lots of bad advice to people.

It sounds like you are eating LOW fat, NO salt, and other things that will cause those problems. E-mail me and I can help you.

good luckI have changed my diet to all natural, vitamins and excersise. Why are my nails yellow and why am I weak/dizzy
whatever you are doing, i would stop and consult with a physician. something is amiss. the yellowing of your nails is a bit concerning. how about your skin or eyes? it sounds like the vitamins you are taking could possibly be having some adverse consequences on your liver. i would make an appt immediately for some tests.
you might not be getting enough iron, calcium or other vitale nutrients. you also may not be getting in enough calories which is causing you to feel weak and dizzy. i would seriously take a look at your daily consumption of calories.

also do you smoke, cuz that will turn your nails yellow as well.

    http://www.fitnesshealthtips.com
its malnutrition and something could be happening in your liver. your body is not used to this
You may be getting low on potassium and salt.
